Gus Hansen experienced a marvelous year on the World Poker Tour where he was the only one to achieve last poker table in 3 of the tournaments. Gus Hansen has appeared on High Stakes Poker on GSN where he paid $400, 000 to play. You may remember one of the biggest pots in high stakes poker recorded history competing against Daniel Negreanu. Hansen secured a big pot with 4 of a kind against Daniel’s full house. Hansen has made many tv poker appearances and is considered to be one of the strongest gamblers anywhere in the world. While gambling on online poker, another side of Hansen has emerged. Gus frequently competes in the 200/400 NL max buy-in of Forty Thousand dollars. Hansen more often than not buys-in for the min of Sixteen Thousand dollars and gambles very weak. He waits patiently for a decent hand and then goes all in. I believe Gus is a great poker player but certainly not even close to the familiar players at 200/400no limit. Unless he is flat broke, he has absolutely no reason to play at the table with the minimum buy in.

Playing for the minimum takes a majority of the skill out of deep stack poker. Hansen is presumed to be 1 of the greatest players anywhere in the world but he cannot buy in for the total dollar value. I believe tv can skew our view of the real world sometimes. The greatest players anywhere in the world could be guys you have will not have heard of. Gus can be seen competing in online poker on Full Tilt. He commonly participates in big stakes omaha hold’em and Holdem. Gus has shown himself as a competition player. Can he back up his talents in money games?
