Gus Hansen experienced a wonderful year on the World Poker Tour where he was the only gambler to achieve closing poker table in 3 of the competitions. Gus Hansen has been seen on High Stakes Poker on GSN where he paid $400, 000 to play. You might remember one of the biggest pots in high stakes poker history against Daniel Negreanu. Gus won a large pot with 4 of a kind against Daniel’s full house. Hansen has earned many televised poker appearances and is considered to be one of the greatest enthusiasts anywhere in the world. While competing in web poker, another side of Hansen has emerged. He often competes in the 200/400 No Limit maximum buy in of $40, 000. Hansen usually buys in for the minimum of Sixteen Thousand dollars and gambles very poorly. He sits there waiting for a decent hand and then pushes all in. I believe Gus is an outstanding poker player but certainly not even close to the familiar players at 200/400no limit. Unless he is bankrupt, he has absolutely no reason to settle at the game with the minimum buy in.

Buying in for the minimum takes a majority of the skill out of deep stack poker. Gus is presumed to be 1 of the best players in the world but he cannot buy-in for the full amt.. I think television can alter our perception of the real world at times. The greatest poker players in the world may be guys you have won’t have heard of. Gus can be found competing in online poker on Full Tilt. He generally plays in big stakes omaha/8 and texas hold’em. Gus has shown himself as a tournament player. Can he back up his abilities in cash rounds?
