No-Limit Holdem Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?
Phil Ivey has been labeled as the greatest poker competitor in the world by quite a few of the top professionals. Phil was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to Jersey before his first birthday. His grandpa taught Phil one cent-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From that point on, he was addicted to poker and wanted to discover every little thing he could about poker. He routinely told his grandparents that he was planning on being a professional poker player. Phil did not permit the detrimental comments from others kill his goal of becoming one of the greatest poker competitors in the world.
He started playing intently after getting a false ID by the name of Jerome. He practiced his abilities at the poker rooms of Atlantic City. The initial number of years for him were a teaching opportunity and winning wasn’t a common outcome at the time. Phil made his mark at the 2000 World Series of Poker when he achieved 2 final tables and won his first WSOP bracelet, in a $2, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha match. At the final table he destroyed quite a few of the well known professionals including but not limited to "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
He decided to take his skills to the next level and headed out west to Vegas. He continues to participate in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players in the world. Ivey credits his achievements to dedication and a continuing passion for the game of poker. Phil says that he is picking up skills every day and is incredibly abashed about his accomplishments. Phil admits to making mistakes in each game of poker and constantly aspires to get better.
Although Ivey has come first in some big tournaments, he prefers destroying cash games on a normal basis.
