Net Big Stakes Poker- Who is Gus Hansen?
Gus Hansen experienced a wonderful year on the WPT where he was the only one to achieve last poker table in 3 of the competitions. Gus Hansen has been seen on High Stakes Poker on The Game Show Network where he bought into the game for $400, 000. You may remember one of the largest pots in high stakes poker history against Daniel Negreanu. He secured a large pot with quads against Daniel’s full house. Hansen has made many tv poker appearances and is considered to be one of the strongest bettors in the world. While gambling on web poker, a different side of Hansen has appeared. Gus often plays in the 200/400 No Limit max buy-in of $40, 000. Gus generally buys-in for the minimum of Sixteen Thousand dollars and plays very poorly. He waits for a decent hand and then goes all-in. I know Hansen is an outstanding poker player but not even close to the everyday players at 200/400no limit. Unless Gus is broke, he has little or no reason to sit at the game with the min buy-in.
Buying in for the minimum takes almost all of the ability out of deep stack poker. Hansen is presumed to be one of the greatest poker players anywhere in the world but he cannot buy in for the full amount. I believe tv can skew our view of the real world sometimes. The best players anywhere in the world may be players you have won’t have heard of. Gus can be seen playing online poker on Full Tilt. He normally participates in big stakes omaha eight-or-better and Holdem. Gus Hansen has shown himself as a tournament player. Can he use his abilities in money rounds?
