Net High Stakes Poker- Who is Gus Hansen?
Gus Hansen had an amazing year on the World Poker Tour where he was the only player to achieve last poker table in 3 of the tournaments. Gus Hansen has appeared on High Stakes Poker on The Game Show Network where he bought into the game for $400, 000. You might remember one of the largest pots in big stakes poker history up against Daniel Negreanu. Hansen secured a large pot with quads against Daniel’s full house. Hansen has earned many tv poker appearances and is thought to be one of the best bettors around the world. While betting on web poker, a different side of Hansen has appeared. He often competes in the 200/400 No Limit maximum buy in of Forty Thousand dollars. Hansen more often than not buys-in for the minimum of Sixteen Thousand dollars and plays very poorly. He waits for a good hand and then pushes all in. I know Hansen is a great poker player but certainly not even close to the regular players at 200/400no limit. Unless Gus is penniless, he has absolutely no reason to settle at the game with the minimum buy in.
Playing for the min takes most of the skill out of big stack poker. Hansen is presumed to be 1 of the greatest players in the world but he can’t buy-in for the total dollar value. I believe tv can skew our view of the real world at times. The best poker players anywhere in the world may be guys you have never heard of before. Gus can be found gambling on web poker on Full Tilt. He commonly plays in high stakes Omaha and texas hold’em. Gus has shown himself as a competition player. Can he use his skills in cash games?
