Phil Ivey has been branded as the best poker player on the globe by quite a few of the top pros. He was born in Riverside, CA and moved to New Jersey before reaching the age of one. His papa taught him penny-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From that point on, he was addicted to poker and wished to learn whatever he could about the game. He routinely told his parents that he was going to be a professional poker player. Phil did not let the adverse feedback from other people annihilate his goal of being one of the best poker players on the planet.

He began competing seriously after acquiring a fake ID with the name of Jerome. He practiced his skills at the casinos in Atlantic City. The initial number of years for Phil were a teaching period and coming away with a win was not a common thing at the time. Phil made his mark at the 2000 World Series of Poker when he made 2 final tables and came away with his 1st World Series of Poker bracelet, in a $2, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha event. At the final table he destroyed a number of the well known professionals including but not limited to "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

He decided to take his skills to the next level and headed out west to Las Vegas. He continues to play in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players on the planet. Ivey credits his achievements to hard work and an undying passion for poker. Phil states that he’s picking up skills every day and is quite humble about his achievements. Phil knows he makes errors in each game of poker and always aspires to get better.

Even though Ivey has won some big-time tournaments, he prefers winning money games on a normal basis.
