Phil Ivey has been labeled as the best poker competitor on the planet by many of the top pros. He was born in Riverside, CA and moved to Jersey before reaching turning 1. His papa taught him penny-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From that point on, he was addicted to poker and wished to pickup anything he could about the game. He would tell his grandparents that he wanted to be a professional poker player. Phil didn’t permit the detrimental comments from other people annihilate his ambition of being one of the best poker competitors on the planet.

He began competing seriously after getting a fake ID with the name of Jerome. He sharpened his abilities at the casinos in Atlantic City. The beginning few years for him were a teaching experience and winning wasn’t a regular outcome at the time. He made his mark at the 2000 WSOP where he achieved 2 final tables and came away with his first World Series of Poker bracelet, in a two dollar, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha game. At the final table he defeated a number of the better known professionals which includes "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

He decided to take his skills to the next level and moved out west to Sin City. He continues to participate in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players in the world. Phil credits his success to discipline and an eternal passion for the game of poker. He states that he is picking up skills every single day and is very humble about his accomplishments. He admits to making blunders in each game of poker and always aspires to improve.

Despite the fact that Phil has won some big tournaments, he favors destroying money games on a normal basis.
