The value of Poker Position
Texas Holdem is simply about people and seating. All experienced Texas Hold’em players concur that position in no restriction Texas Hold’em is critically significant. Playing your hole cards in last position might be much more profitable than in early poker position. This is because much more info is gathered prior to acting.
i.e., I was playing a $1-$2 no limit money round at a local spot. I came in with 2, 9 unsuited on the croupier button, so I could see some fun. Flop arrived A-A-4. A player in early position laid a fifteen dollar bet. 2 players fold and it was my turn to act. I should have folded, but his action seemed a bit odd. I ID’d this person as a weak-tight individual, and normally if he had the number one hand he would simply check, so I called.
The turn showed with a 7, making it A-A-4-7. My competitor laid another wager of $20. I hesitated a tiny bit, but decided to re-raise an additional $30thirty dollars over and above his $20. He dropped out and I take the chips.
Playing late spot offers you an insight into where you sit by watching how players carry oneself and wager. On the other hand, gamblers at starting spot may use their poker position to check-raise the last positioned aggressors and trap them afterwords at the end. In Hold’em, both ends, late and starting must be bet cautiously.
