Omaha Hi-Lo (also known as Omaha/8 or better) is commonly viewed as one of the most complex but well-loved poker games. It is a variation that, even more than normal Omaha poker, aims for action from every level of players. This is the main reason why a once irrelevant game, has expanded in popularity so rapidly.

Omaha Hi-Lo starts like a normal game of Omaha. Four cards are dealt to every player. A sequence of wagering follows where players can bet, check, or fold. 3 cards are handed out, this is referred to as the flop. One more sequence of wagering ensues. Once all the players have either called or dropped out, a further card is flipped on the turn. a further round of betting ensues and then the river card is revealed. The players will have to make the best high and low five card hands based on the board and hole cards.

This is the point where a few players get baffled. Contrasted to Holdem, in which the board can make up everyone’s hand, in Omaha hi low the player has to use precisely three cards on the board, and precisely 2 cards from their hand.
