Phil Ivey has been branded as the number one poker competitor on the globe by many of the top-ranked pros. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to NJ before reaching the age of one. His grandfather showed him to one cent-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From that point on, Phil was hooked on poker and wanted to pickup whatever he could about poker. Phil routinely told his parents that he was planning on being a professional poker player. Phil didn’t permit the detrimental feedback from other people annihilate his ambition of being one of the greatest poker competitors on the planet.

He began playing seriously after getting a fake ID with the name of Jerome. He honed his game at the casinos of Atlantic City. The first few years for Phil were a teaching period and winning wasn’t a common outcome at the time. Phil made his mark at the 2000 World Series of Poker where he made 2 final tables and won his 1st World Series of Poker bracelet, in a two dollar, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha event. At the last table he destroyed a number of the better known professionals which includes "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

Phil decided to take his game to the next level and moved out west to Vegas. He continues to compete in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players in the world. Phil credits his success to hard work and a continuing passion for the game of poker. Phil states that he is picking up skills every single day and is incredibly humble about his achievements. Phil admits to making errors in each session of poker and always strives to improve.

Even though Phil has come first in some big-time tournaments, he favors destroying money games on a normal basis.
