Web Big Stakes Poker- Gus Hansen
Gus Hansen enjoyed a marvelous year on the WPT where he was the only participant to make it to the last game in 3 of the competitions. Gus Hansen has been seen on High Stakes Poker on The Game Show Network where he paid $400, 000 to play. You might remember one of the largest pots in big stakes poker history against Daniel Negreanu. Hansen raked in a massive pot with quads against Negreanu’s full house. Gus has made many televised poker appearances and is thought to be one of the greatest bettors in the world. While betting on net poker, another side of Hansen has been seen. Gus regularly participates in the 200/400 NL max buy in of Forty Thousand dollars. Hansen generally buys in for the minimum of Sixteen Thousand dollars and gambles very poorly. He sits there waiting for a decent hand and then pushes all-in. I accept that Gus is a great poker player but certainly not even close to the familiar players at 200/400NL. Unless Gus is bankrupt, he has absolutely no reason to settle at the table with the minimum buy in.
Playing for the min takes a majority of the expertise out of big stack poker. Gus is assumed to be one of the best players anywhere in the world but he can’t buy in for the total dollar value. I think tv can skew our perception of the real world sometimes. The best players anywhere in the world could be guys you have will not have heard of. Gus can be found wagering on online poker on Full Tilt. He commonly competes in big stakes omaha eight-or-better and Holdem. Gus has proven himself as a competition player. Can he use his talents in cash games?
