Hiding Tells

Do you ever get that itch? The itch to wager, to head to the closest casino, to uncover a good stakes casino game of Texas holdem, to sit at a Twenty-one table for hours on end. I love that itch. And I like to scratch it.

I also really like to watch people today wager. No 2 poker faces seem equal. When I bet I like to consider I put on a poker face that is impassable. But I know I’ve specific gestures. For 1, the only time I smoke is when I bet on poker or Black-jack. And then I chain smoke. Except I chain smoke no matter whether I am succeeding or losing, no matter whether I’ve a very good hand or bad.

I once wagered in a very weekly poker game. The game was usually five card draw. There was a gentleman who bet with us every single week who generally wore a hat. When he was given a excellent hand, unconsciously, he would begin touching and playing with his hat. Needless to say, he never won.

The greatest poker gambler I ever saw was a man who made more movements and signals at a poker table than anybody I had ever seen. He was impressive in the way he dressed. Usually an pricey suit and tie, boots shined and nails manicured. He was fastidious in this manner. And he was constantly brushing his pant leg or rubbings his hands or putting his chips in neat little piles.

I use to analyze him for hours. I would tried to see if I could spot his tell. Picking fuzz off his shirt- did this imply he was bluffing? Stacking his chips within a short pile – did this mean he had a excellent hand?

Many years later I bumped into him in the bar in Philly and we had a beer. I asked him if he have been aware of all those activities he created or if they have been unconscious. He told me that each and every individual thing he did at a poker table was intentional. He said that everybody is constantly checking out everyone else’s poker face. They’re attempting to notice the the tell.

So his system was to provide them lots to believe about. His thinking was if they were pondering about him picking a piece of fuzz off his jacket and what it meant they positive were not pondering about their cards.

His technique was distraction. And it worked for him. In no way give up a system that works for you.
